This ground boasts of floodlights, but they are functional during cricket and football matches. It’s more or less similar to the way Old Trafford is constructed. There is a pavilion at midwicket, a two-tier stand at the opposite side and the commentary and press boxes from the other end. It’s established against the Circuit House, a colonial mansion, that was used as headquarters during Bangladesh ’s war of liberation in 1971 and Ziaur Rehman was assassinated. The first test played here was between Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe from November 15-19, 2001. The first ODI was first played on October 27, 1988 between Bangladesh vs India .
